Chequers Inn Cycle Ride 2011

Fancy Dress Cycle Ride to Raise Funds
The Chequers Inn at Woolmer Green are calling on local residents once again to take part in their seventh annual cycle ride on Sunday 26th June, in aid of the Herts Air Ambulance. So far they have raised a staggering £54,000 to help keep the county's life-saving helicopter in the air.
The cycle ride is suitable for the whole family and is a great day out riding around the local pubs and villages, starting and finishing at the Chequers Inn, Woolmer Green. Pubs participating this year are; Robin Hood & Little John, The North Star, The White Horse, Plume of Feathers, The Horns, The Plough and The Red Lion.
Every year cyclists taking part in the ride wear fancy dress and this year’s theme will be London Musicals, so watch out for a variety of West End characters riding around the local villages!
It is £3.50 to enter, plus each participant is given a sponsorship form to raise funds. There is tea and a bacon roll available on arrival and following the ride there is an auction, raffle and family BBQ at the Chequers Inn.
Nick and Marian Darter, Chequers Inn, said: "We are really excited about this year's cycle ride and hope that we can rely on the fantastic support from the local community once again."
Michelle de la Bertauche, Fundraising Manager, Herts Air Ambulance, said: "The Chequers Inn Cycle Ride is getting bigger and better every year. We are so grateful for the financial support given to us by Marian and Nick and everyone involved over the years. The Herts Air Ambulance is entirely charity funded and it costs approximately £2,000 to fly one mission, so we rely on the generosity of the people who live and work in Herts to make sure the helicopter can continue to fly to people who need it the most."
If you would like to take part and help raise vital funds for Herts Air Ambulance then contact Nick or Marian at the Chequers Inn on 01438 813216. Alternatively, pop into the pub or for more information.
