Heart of Herts Casino Night

Love for the Herts Air Ambulance at the Heart of Herts Casino Night
Over 100 guests came out to play at the Heart of Herts Casino Night on Friday 10th February. The evening, held at The Fairway Tavern, Welwyn Garden City, was a complete sell out, raising over £2,100, for the Herts Air Ambulance.
Valentines was the theme of the evening, and the Fairway Tavern was transformed with black and red seat covers, playing card balloons, casino orientated table decorations, a giant red heart, and of course the Funky Casino tables! The fun filled evening kicked off with a cocktail reception where guests enjoyed a (red!) Cosmopolitan on arrival followed by a two course dinner and disco.
The Casino tables were a real hit with the guests as they tried their luck at Roulette and Black Jack, playing with casino chips bought with fun money from the Fundraising Staff. There was also a raffle, lotto and a game of heads & tails with some fantastic prizes on offer including a Land Rover Experience donated by Lancaster Land Rover, afternoon tea for two at Fanhams Hall Hotel plus a family studio session with framed print from David P MacDonald Photography which all helped to raise funds on the night.

There was not a dry eye in the house as guest of honour and airlifted patient Kate Oliver gave an emotive speech about her first hand experience of the life-saving work of the Essex & Herts Air Ambulance following a serious car crash in Welwyn in October 2010. Herts Air Ambulance Critical Care Paramedic Dave Tamarro introduced her, after explaining how the clinical operations and fundraising activities are each integral to the other, allowing the Charity to carry on the Air Ambulance's life-saving work.
Wendy Marcon, Trust Events Manager, said: “We are delighted with the success of our first Heart of Herts Casino Night, thank you to everyone that came along and supported the event; it truly was a night to remember. I would especially like to thank Clare Oliver and her team at the Fairway Tavern for hosting the night; it was a pleasure to work with you and we hope to be spinning the wheel again next year and raise vital funds for such a worthy cause.”
