European Motorcycle Challenge in Aid of Herts Air Ambulance
24th - 30th June 2011 *NEW DATE!
We are currently looking for bikers willing to embark on the Charity’s first motorcycle challenge through Europe to help raise vital funds for the Air Ambulance!
The challenge will take place from 24th to 30th June 2011, the registration fee is £199 plus a minimum fundraising target of £1,650 is required. Places will be allocated on a first come first served basis.
The challenge will begin at Harwich with an overnight ferry to Holland where you will depart on your bikes heading for Gotznerhof Hotel, Austria. The journey will take you through Holland and into Germany where you will ride along the Rhein River, visit Frankfurt, Rodermark and then ride through the German countryside following the River Neckar to Heilbronn. The next leg of the journey takes you through the mountains into Austria heading for Innsbruck and then onto the hotel at Gotzens, which will be your base for the next five nights.
Once you have reached Gotzens you are free to explore for the next three days! There will be ride outs each day, taking different routes through the mountains and taking in some spectacular views with great roads to match. You can choose to take a day trip out with a local guide or go back to Germany to visit some of the local castles and churches. Some of the destinations you could visit are Oberammergau, Germany which was made famous in 1634 by performing the first ‘Passion Play’ or perhaps the magnificent Krimml Waterfalls, Salzburg with an impressive 380m drop making it Europe’s tallest and the 5th biggest waterfall in the World. For those that want to take a break from all that riding can catch a bus to Innsbruck and go sightseeing.
After a great three days of riding through the mountains and taking in the beautiful scenery and sights it is time to go home. After riding back through Germany there will be an overnight stop in Rodermark and then onto to the Hook of Holland to catch the overnight ferry back to Harwich.
