The Charity only employs a small number of full-time staff and is therefore extremely grateful to its committed volunteers who generously give of their valuable time and experience to attend these events.
Jill Jennings is the Volunteer Coordinator responsible for managing and supporting the many cherished volunteers and says, “Our volunteers literally attend hundreds of local events throughout the year from talks at schools and organisations to running merchandise stalls at town shows and Christmas events. Thank you to each and every one - their help and support is invaluable.”
We particularly need help in the following areas:
- Managing merchandise stands at events
- Fundraising Tin Collections
- Public speaking
- Cheque presentations
- Special Projects (Using your particular skills and experience to help the Charity)
Our volunteer opportunities are open to anyone in the community and to people of all ages and experience. We want to hear from you if you simply have time to spare, are at school or college and looking for work experience or are seeking an opportunity that can be added to your CV.

If your wondering what to expect joining Herts Air Ambulance as a volunteer, take a look at what Volunteer Tony Newsome has to say...
“I was made redundant at the end of 2008 and so, at the age of 62 I was left contemplating other ways to fill the long days without becoming addicted to Facebook!
I happened to visit a shopping centre near my Bishops Stortford home where Herts Air Ambulance was holding a recruitment drive, I picked up a volunteer pack and haven’t looked back since.
I take part in, almost all, fundraising activities, placing and collecting donation tins throughout the county, assisting at community events, selling Air Ambulance merchandise, even dressing up as "Pilot Pete" - although my frame is rather on the "corporate" side.
The best thing for me is working with a group of like-minded, dedicated people raising much needed funds for one of the most deserving charities and having fun doing it. I have enjoyed more job satisfaction from what I do with the Air Ambulance than I did in 20 years of working - but it took redundancy to make me to realise that.”

Volunteer Survey
In 2010, Essex and Herts Air Ambulance Trust (EHAAT) joined forces with UserViews, a local research company, and conducted a survey in order to explore satisfaction levels of volunteers with the Charity’s communications and support and to determine what motivates people to volunteer for the Air Ambulance.
